Ask Measured

An Australian Negroni with no bar tools

Inspired by Negroni week, we’ve got a very special episode of Ask Measured.

Thurman Wise

In this installment, we tackle one of our most frequently asked questions: how can you make a great cocktail at home without any bar tools?

Inspired by Negroni Week, we’ve riffed on the classic Negroni, and have created the ‘Australian Negroni’. We’ve replaced the Campari with Rhubi Mistelle and added some of our favourite Australian spirits from Four Pillars and Saison Aperitifs. An Australian-made, French aperitif in a Negroni... are we crazy? Perhaps. Is it delicious? Absolutely.

Ingredients

30mL Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin
30mL Rhubi Mistelle Rhubarb Liqueur
30mL Saison Aperitif Red Vermouth
Fresh Ice

Method

Pour the Gin, Vermouth and Liqueur in to a Pyrex mixing jug (or similar vessel)
Add fresh Ice with a dinner spoon
Stir with a chopstick
Pour through a fine pasta strainer into a rocks glass with ice
