Old Fashioned

Here’s a drink speaks for itself. The Old Fashioned is a classic in every sense and still one of the best ways to showcase your favourite rye or bourbon. However, if someone did have to speak for it, that person would be Don Draper.

Some might argue that we have Don Draper of Mad Men to thank for romanticising the Old Fashioned and bringing it back into popular culture. We think the drink speaks for itself — a classic in every sense and still one of the best ways to show off your favourite rye or bourbon.

Mixing Glass, Jigger, Bar Spoon, Strainer, Muddler, Fruit Peeler

Ingredients

60ml Rye Whiskey(Classic) or Bourbon(Contemporary)
1 sugar cube
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 dashes Orange Bitters
Orange Twist
Lemon Twist

Method

In a mixing glass add sugar cube and bitters. Add a dash of water and muddle the sugar cube. Add Rye or Bourbon and give a stir until the sugar dissolves into whiskey. Add ice and continue to stir for approximately 12 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube. Squeeze the oils of a lemon and orange twist across glass and place twist inside glass. Add a Luxardo cherry for garnish.
